Did you know that 30% of American’s say they’ve had a package stolen? Residents in rural areas actually have a higher chance of having their packages stolen, so what can you do? We hope these tips keep your holiday a merry one.
- Ask a neighbor you know and trust that works from home or is retired to hold your packages for you.
- Purchase a post office box. You typically pay a monthly fee for the boxes and the expense is quite minimal ($10 or so monthly).
- Have packages delivered to your workplace. This is a great option if your employer will allow it.
- Require a signature at delivery.
- Utilize tracking devices to ensure you are home at the time of delivery or again ask a friend or neighbor to help keep an eye out for your package.
- You can invest in a porch box or a locked box. This is something you can purchase online and costs range from $89 and up. They offer you the convenience of getting your packages still delivered at home and should stand the test of time.
- Amazon and UPS offer lockers at numerous locations in most major cities. This program is still growing but this could be a great free option. See the links below for additional information.
